KlimaTicket Ö in Apple Wallet: 2026 Austria Guide

KlimaTicket Ö is not officially in Apple Wallet. Here is what the ÖBB app shows, why it stays a plastic card, and how to handle the PDF or barcode.

The KlimaTicket Ö covers every public transport ride across Austria for a year, but it does not live in Apple Wallet. The official path is a plastic card with a digital companion view inside the ÖBB and regional partner apps. The Wallet button you might be looking for never shows up.

Here is what the KlimaTicket organisation actually offers in 2026, where the digital ticket lives on the iPhone, and how to handle the order PDF or barcode if a Wallet shortcut is the goal.

Why the KlimaTicket Stays Out of Apple Wallet

The decision is explicit on klimaticket.at: the operator decided against making the KlimaTicket Ö storable in wallet systems for security reasons and to prevent misuse, since the KlimaTicket Ö is a cancelable annual ticket. A Wallet pass would persist on the device after a refund or cancellation, which the issuer treats as a fraud surface. So the official answer is no Wallet pass, full stop.

No official Wallet integration

There is no Add to Apple Wallet button in the ÖBB app, the WESTbahn app, or the regional Verkehrsverbund apps for the KlimaTicket Ö. Inspectors expect either the plastic card or the ticket view inside an approved app.

KlimaTicket Ö Variants and 2026 Prices

The KlimaTicket Ö comes in four variants. Pricing was adjusted on 1 January 2026.

KlimaTicket Ö Klassik

1400 Euro per year. The standard adult ticket valid on every public train, tram, and bus across Austria.

KlimaTicket Ö Jugend

1050 Euro per year. Valid until the day before the 26th birthday. Same coverage as Klassik.

KlimaTicket Ö Senior

1050 Euro per year. Available from the 65th birthday onward. Same nationwide coverage.

KlimaTicket Ö Spezial

1050 Euro per year. For eligible groups (e.g., people with certain disabilities). Family add-on for up to four kids 6 to 15 is 140 Euro per year.

Where the Digital KlimaTicket Lives

The digital KlimaTicket Ö can be displayed in the apps of ÖBB, WESTbahn, Wiener Linien, Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe and Verkehrsverbund Tirol. Each of these apps fetches the ticket from the KlimaTicket account and shows it in their own ticket view, none exports a pkpass.

ÖBB App

The most common path. Once the KlimaTicket is linked to an ÖBB account, it appears in the Tickets tab and can be opened on the home screen via widget.

WESTbahn App

Useful when riding WESTbahn between Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck. The ticket view mirrors the ÖBB version for inspection.

Wiener Linien, IVB and VVT

Regional apps for Vienna, Innsbruck and Tirol. Convenient for daily city use without launching the national ÖBB app each time.

No Apple Wallet handoff

None of these apps writes the ticket to Wallet. Closing the app and reopening Wallet shows nothing related to the KlimaTicket.

ÖBB widget covers most use cases

The ÖBB app exposes a home screen widget that opens the KlimaTicket with one tap. Combined with a Lock Screen widget, the experience is close to a Wallet pass, just inside the ÖBB app instead.

Regional KlimaTickets and the Same Story

The regional KlimaTickets (VOR KlimaTicket MetropolRegion and Region for Vienna/Lower Austria/Burgenland, KlimaTicket OÖ, KlimaTicket Salzburg, KlimaTicket Tirol, KlimaTicket Steiermark, KlimaTicket Kärnten, KlimaTicket VMobil for Vorarlberg) cover one or more federal states at a lower price than the national Ö ticket. Each is sold by its own Verkehrsverbund and follows the same digital model: physical card plus partner app, no Apple Wallet support.

If the daily commute is mostly on Wiener Linien, the Wiener Linien app handles the VOR KlimaTicket cleanly. Same idea for Tirol, Vorarlberg (VMobil), and the others. The Wallet limitation is identical across all variants.

NeatPass makes it easy to convert any ticket, pass, or loyalty card to Apple Wallet.

When NeatPass Helps with a KlimaTicket Order

NeatPass creates Apple Wallet passes from supported barcodes present in PDFs or screenshots. For the KlimaTicket, that can be useful for personal reference only. Official inspection still requires the original plastic card or an approved app display; copies, scans, photos, and other images of the plastic card are not valid tickets.

Where NeatPass fits

  • Order confirmation as a shortcut: Capture the barcode from the KlimaTicket order email and keep it in Wallet for fast cardholder lookups, so the barcode keeps working offline
  • Plastic card backup: Photograph the back of the card and turn the static barcode into a Wallet tile so the card stays at home
  • Custom design: Match the green KlimaTicket palette so the pass is easy to spot next to BahnCard, Deutschlandticket, and other transit tiles

Where it does not help

  • Inspection on Austrian transit: A NeatPass tile is a personal reference, not the official ticket. Inspectors expect the plastic card or an approved app, so keep the ÖBB app installed.
  • Refund or cancellation: If the KlimaTicket is canceled, the source barcode is invalidated by ÖBB. The Wallet pass keeps showing the old code and has to be deleted by hand.

Adding a KlimaTicket barcode to Wallet via NeatPass

1

Open the KlimaTicket order PDF or app view

Find the barcode in the KlimaTicket order email PDF or open the KlimaTicket inside the ÖBB app and screenshot it with the code fully visible.
2

Import into NeatPass

Open NeatPass, tap the plus button, and select the screenshot from the photo library. Or use the share extension directly from the PDF.
3

On-device AI fills in the details

The iPhone's own neural engine reads the barcode and extracts the visible text. No accounts and no cloud uploads: the privacy FAQ covers exactly what leaves the device.
4

Name and style the pass

Rename the pass to KlimaTicket Ö and pick the green color so it stands out among other transit passes: see the pass customization options.
5

Save to Apple Wallet

Tap Add to Wallet. Pair with a Wallet widget on the Lock Screen so the barcode is one swipe away. Treat it as a personal shortcut, the official ticket stays in the ÖBB app and on the plastic card.

Static barcode survives no signal

Apple Wallet keeps the barcode available without a connection. How offline mode works is a short read for those long Alpine tunnels. Tickets that depend on live app data, including the official KlimaTicket view, do not behave the same way.

Not a Legal Replacement

A NeatPass Wallet pass for a KlimaTicket is a personal shortcut to the barcode and cardholder text. It is not the official KlimaTicket and is not recognized as such by ÖBB, WESTbahn, or any Verkehrsverbund. Always carry the plastic card or use the official ÖBB or partner app at inspection.

Cancellations, refunds, validity changes, and tariff updates are reflected only in the official systems. Keep the ÖBB app installed and the plastic card with the wallet for any inspection where the digital tile is questioned.

Your KlimaTicket on the iPhone

Apple Wallet is not part of the official KlimaTicket plan, and the operator has stated this on record. The plastic card plus the ÖBB app stays the canonical setup for 2026, with regional apps as a substitute for daily commuting.

For the order confirmation barcode or a screenshot of the ticket view, NeatPass can build a personal Wallet shortcut. It does not replace the plastic card or approved app at inspection, but it can keep reference information close at hand.
