How NeatPass works without internet and keeps your data private

NeatPass is designed to work completely offline. Your tickets never leave your device, all AI processing happens locally.

What Works Offline

After installing the app, these features work without internet:

Import PDFs and images
AI-powered text extraction
Barcode detection
Pass preview and editing
Save to library and view all passes
Search and filter library
Delete and restore passes
Widget display

Why it works offline

The AI model is bundled with the app (~1GB), no cloud API calls, no internet required for extraction. Your ticket data stays on your device.

What Requires Internet

Pass Signing

Brief connection to sign passes for Apple Wallet. Only a hash (cryptographic fingerprint) is sent. Your ticket content stays on your device.

Preparing for Offline Use

You can import and save tickets to your library completely offline. Only adding to Apple Wallet requires a brief internet connection.

Import and save to library

Process your tickets and save them to your library. This works offline.

Add to Wallet while online

Add passes to Apple Wallet while you have internet. Once added, Wallet passes work offline without needing NeatPass.

Airplane Mode

Full functionality

View passes, import new tickets, edit details, everything except adding to Apple Wallet.

At the airport

Import your boarding pass while connected, add to Wallet, then enable Airplane Mode. Show from Wallet or NeatPass.

Troubleshooting

Pass not syncing to Wallet

Pass signing requires a brief internet connection. Connect to WiFi or cellular, then try adding to Wallet again.

Widget not updating

Widget data syncs when the app opens. Open NeatPass briefly and the widget will refresh automatically.

Best Practices

Import all tickets before you leave
Add important passes to Wallet while online
Test that passes display correctly before heading to the venue
