A discount card and separate train ticket travel together toward a rail gate with an ID token

The ÖBB Vorteilscard is a discount credential, not normally a train ticket. It reduces eligible fares, but for an ordinary journey it does not replace the ticket you need.

ÖBB does not document a native Apple Wallet export for the Vorteilscard. Its current FAQ says other providers' card apps are not accepted and directs electronic presentation to the ÖBB app. Use the ÖBB app for the digital Vorteilscard, or a physical or provisional card where ÖBB has issued one, together with a valid photo ID with proof of age.

What the ÖBB Vorteilscard Does

ÖBB offers several Vorteilscard variants for different passenger groups. Prices, eligibility, validity and any additional proof requirements depend on the variant shown in current ÖBB product information; a valid photo ID with proof of age remains required.

The card identifies your discount entitlement. For an ordinary journey, a separate ÖBB ticket carries the journey, train and fare conditions. That distinction matters when deciding what belongs in Apple Wallet.

A discount credential
  • Shows that you are entitled to a specific ÖBB discount
  • Works together with the ticket for the journey
  • Must be shown with a valid photo ID with proof of age
Not a train ticket
  • Does not reserve a seat or a particular train
  • Does not contain the full fare or journey details
  • For an ordinary journey, does not replace the ticket checked by staff

ÖBB's Official Card Is Not an Apple Wallet Pass

Apple's Wallet guide describes adding a supported pass through an Add to Apple Wallet option. ÖBB's current Vorteilscard guidance points to the ÖBB account and app instead, and its FAQ says apps from other providers are not accepted. Current ÖBB information does not document a native Vorteilscard export.

The Official ÖBB Path

Use the ÖBB account to order or manage the card, and the ÖBB app to present the digital Vorteilscard. That keeps the current card status and account details connected to ÖBB's own records.

Check the current ÖBB Vorteilscard overview and Vorteilscard FAQ for variant details, presentation rules and updates.

1

Open Meine Ermäßigungen

Sign in to the ÖBB account or open the ÖBB app and find Meine Ermäßigungen. Select the Vorteilscard variant attached to your account and follow the current display instructions.
2

Keep the official proof available

Keep the digital Vorteilscard in the ÖBB app available. If ÖBB issued a physical card or official provisional document, carry that alternative too. The exact proof depends on your application status and the variant you hold.
3

Carry the required ID

Carry a valid photo ID with proof of age. The ÖBB FAQ says the Vorteilscard is valid only together with this ID; a Wallet shortcut does not remove the inspection requirement.
4

Keep the journey ticket separate

Buy or open the ÖBB ticket for each trip. The Vorteilscard grants the discount, while the ticket proves the journey and its conditions.

For the ticket itself, see the ÖBB ticket Apple Wallet guide.

Using the Card on a Journey

At inspection, open the digital Vorteilscard under Meine Ermäßigungen in the ÖBB app, or present the physical or provisional alternative where ÖBB issued one. Carry valid photo ID with proof of age and show the journey ticket separately.

The Right Place for Your Vorteilscard

Keep the digital Vorteilscard in the ÖBB app, the required photo ID, and the journey ticket ready as three separate parts of the trip. Use an issued physical or provisional card when that is the proof ÖBB has supplied.

For another rail discount credential, read the BahnCard Apple Wallet guide. For the ticket itself, see European train tickets in Apple Wallet.
