Live Flight Tracking

Set up Live Activities for boarding passes to get real-time flight updates on your lock screen

2 min read

iOS 26 introduces Live Flight Tracking for boarding passes in Apple Wallet. Your flight status appears directly on your Lock Screen with real-time updates, no need to open apps or refresh manually.

Requirements

To use Live Flight Tracking, you need:

iOS 26 or later
Boarding pass added to Apple Wallet
Flight number and departure date on the pass
Airline with data coverage

How It Works

The Live Activity appears automatically once your boarding pass is in Apple Wallet:

1

Add boarding pass to Wallet

Use NeatPass to import your boarding pass and add it to Apple Wallet.

2

Flight is recognized

Apple matches your flight details with airline data automatically.

3

Live Activity appears

The tracking shows up on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. No buttons to press.

4

Updates arrive automatically

Gate changes, delays, and boarding times update in real-time.

What's Displayed

Departure & arrival times

Real-time updates as schedules change

Gate & terminal

Gate changes and terminal assignments

Delay alerts

Notifications when your flight is delayed

Time to boarding

Countdown until boarding begins

Sharing Flight Status

Share your flight with others so they can follow your journey:

1

Open pass in Wallet

View your boarding pass in Apple Wallet.

2

Tap Share Flight Tracker

Choose the share option to send via Messages.

3

Recipient taps Follow

They receive a link and tap Follow to start getting updates.

Privacy preserved

Shared status excludes your seat number and boarding group

Recipient requirements

iPhone with iOS 26. No airline app or NeatPass needed

Airline Support

Not all airlines support Live Flight Tracking yet. Live data availability depends on airline participation.

Major carriers are supported
More airlines being added in 2026

If your airline doesn't support live tracking yet, your boarding pass still works normally in Apple Wallet for scanning at security and boarding gates.

When Tracking Ends

The Live Activity automatically ends when your flight lands, the flight is cancelled, or you manually dismiss it. This is normal, the tracker served its purpose.

Troubleshooting

Live Activity not appearing

Check that your pass type is set to Boarding Pass (not Event Ticket), the pass is in Apple Wallet (not just NeatPass), you're running iOS 26+, and the flight number and departure date are present on the pass.

No live updates appearing

Verify your flight number uses the full format like UA123 or DL456 (not just 123). Check that departure date and airport codes are correct. Some airlines may not have data coverage yet.

Can't share flight status

The recipient must have an iPhone with iOS 26. Sharing works via Messages only. Both devices need an internet connection.

Updates are delayed or inaccurate

Data comes from airline systems, which may have delays. Airport monitors remain the authoritative source for gate information. Allow a few minutes for updates to propagate.

Works for some flights but not others

Not all airlines support live tracking yet. Codeshare flights may not be recognized. Charter and private flights typically aren't supported.
