Stocard Alternative: The Best Replacements in 2026

Stocard shut down. The best alternative depends on what you used it for. Compare Apple Wallet via NeatPass, Klarna, Pass2U and plain store apps.

A friendly loyalty card with a small barcode face standing at a fork in the path, signposts pointing to a cozy glowing Apple Wallet home, a busy payments app, and a plain store app, warm rose accent glow, kawaii style

Stocard is gone. The standalone app was shut down after Klarna, which bought it in 2021, folded the loyalty card feature into the main Klarna app. If you searched for a Stocard alternative, you want one straight answer: what should you use now?

The honest answer is that it depends on what you used Stocard for. Most people only ever showed a barcode at the register. For that, the best replacement is not another card app at all. It is Apple Wallet, the wallet already built into your iPhone, with a small app to get your cards in. Below are the real options, compared fairly.

What should I use instead of Stocard?

Sort yourself into one of these and the choice gets easy.

You just want the barcode at checkout

Put your cards in Apple Wallet with a converter app like NeatPass. No account, opens from the lock screen, works offline.

You want the official successor

Klarna now holds the old Stocard loyalty feature. It is a full payments and shopping app, not a plain card holder.

You want another card-app wallet

Pass2U or MakePass keep cards inside their own app, closer to how Stocard worked, with their own accounts.

You only had one or two cards

The store's own app often adds its card to Apple Wallet directly. Fine for a single shop, clutter for many.

Apple Wallet via a converter app (NeatPass)

Stocard was its own wallet. You opened the app, found the card, and showed the barcode from inside it. A converter app skips that middle app entirely. It scans your card once and hands a real pass to Apple Wallet, where it sits next to your boarding passes and payment cards.

NeatPass is that converter. It needs no account, and adding a pass never asks you to sign in. There are no cloud uploads of your card images, and the scanning runs on your device. The pitch is blunt: I don't want your email. I just want your barcode. You pay once and you are done. You can read exactly how the data is handled in the privacy FAQ.

Klarna: what actually happened to Stocard

Klarna is where Stocard went, so it deserves a fair look. When the standalone app shut down, the loyalty card feature moved into the main Klarna app. Your cards were not exported to Apple Wallet for you, and the migration pushed people into a full Klarna account.

That is the catch. Klarna is a payments and shopping app first. A simple barcode holder is now one feature inside it, behind an account you may not want for a supermarket card. If you liked Stocard because it was small and did one thing, Klarna is not the same product. If you already use Klarna to pay, keeping your cards there is reasonable. Pass2U, MakePass and other converter apps

Pass2U and MakePass also turn a barcode into an Apple Wallet pass, so they land close to NeatPass. The difference is in the model. Most run on ads or a subscription, and several ask for an account or route your card through a server to build the pass. They work. Just check whether the free tier fits your card count and whether you are comfortable with the account.

Plain store apps

Many chains ship their own app, and a lot of them add the store card straight to Apple Wallet. For a single shop you visit often, that is the cleanest route of all, and you get points and offers on top. The downside is one app per shop. If you carried ten cards in Stocard, ten separate apps is exactly the clutter you were avoiding.

The options side by side

Apple Wallet via NeatPass
  • Cards live in native Apple Wallet, no extra app
  • No account and no cloud uploads
  • On-device scanning, works offline
  • One-time price, no ads or offers
Klarna, Pass2U, store apps
  • Klarna: official successor, but a full payments app
  • Pass2U / MakePass: converters with accounts or ads
  • Store apps: great for one shop, clutter for many
  • Most keep a cloud account in the loop

How do I move my cards over?

This is the part people worry about. There is nothing to export. You do not need to recover a Stocard login or pull data out of Klarna. Each card is rebuilt fresh from the barcode you already have.

1

Find each barcode

Grab the plastic cards from your drawer, or open your photos for any old screenshot of a card you saved from Stocard.
2

Scan with NeatPass

Point the camera at the barcode, or import the screenshot, photo, or PDF. The on-device model reads the barcode and the card details.
3

Add to Apple Wallet

Name the pass so it is easy to spot, adjust the color if you like, and add it to Apple Wallet. Repeat for each card.

An old screenshot is enough

You do not need the plastic card in hand. If you have a screenshot of the barcode from your Stocard days, NeatPass reads it straight from your camera roll. The barcode is the card.

NeatPass reads the barcode formatsloyalty cards use and gives you several ways to import a card. For the full walkthrough, the Stocard to Apple Wallet guidecovers every step.

Where NeatPass falls short

A fair answer names the gaps. NeatPass is not the right pick for everyone.

  • iPhone only. Stocard ran on Android too. NeatPass is built around Apple Wallet, so there is no Android version.
  • No standalone Apple Watch app. NeatPass has no app on the Watch. Your cards still appear on your Apple Watch, because Apple Wallet syncs them there, but that is Wallet doing the work, not a NeatPass Watch app.
  • No offers or rewards catalogue. Stocard bundled deals. NeatPass does one job, holding your barcode, and leaves points and offers to the store's own app.

None of that hides behind marketing. If you need Android or a built-in deals feed, Klarna or a store app fits better. If you want your barcode in Apple Wallet with no account, NeatPass is the shortest path.

Common questions

The short recommendation

Stocard served people well for years, and its shutdown left a gap. For most former users the best replacement is Apple Wallet itself, with NeatPass to get the cards in: no account, on-device, a one-time purchase. Klarna is the official home if you want it, and a store app wins when you only care about one shop. Pick by what you actually did with Stocard, not by which app shouts loudest.
