Apple Wallet can label a pass invalid even when the card, ticket, or boarding pass looked fine a moment ago. The message is a reason to identify which layer failed, not proof that every barcode copy is unusable.
An invalid package, an expired or voided pass, and an issuer account change require different fixes. Start with the issuer's current pass before trying to create another copy.
What an invalid pass can mean
Wallet validates more than the visible barcode. A pass package contains signed files and a pass type identifier; some passes also use issuer-controlled status or updates.
Invalid package or signature
The .pkpass package may be incomplete or malformed, contain changed data, or use a certificate or signature Wallet cannot validate. A mismatched pass type identifier is another common issuer-side error.
Expired or voided pass
A dated ticket or credential can reach its end date, or the issuer can void it before the printed date.
Issuer replaced the pass
An airline, event platform, or retailer may have issued a newer version after a booking or account change.
Dynamic code no longer available
A rotating barcode or account-bound ticket may need the issuer app and cannot be repaired from a screenshot.
Do not trust the alert alone
Check the issuer before rebuilding anything
These checks separate a broken Wallet file from a pass that the issuer has deliberately withdrawn.

Static passes and live tickets are different
A generic loyalty card often contains one stable barcode. A concert or sports ticket can instead use a changing barcode, an account session, or a transfer state. Wallet validates the pass package, while the issuer controls whether the underlying credential is still valid.
For a static event barcode, see the event-ticket guide and follow the issuer's rules. Never present a screenshot as a substitute when the ticket platform says its code rotates.
Issuer status wins
Create a clean Wallet pass from a valid static barcode
NeatPass makes it easy to convert any ticket, pass, or loyalty card to Apple Wallet.
Where NeatPass helps
When you have a valid unchanged barcode in a photo, PDF, physical card, or other supported source, NeatPass can create a new static pass. For signature validation, canceled tickets, or rotating codes, follow the issuer's current pass flow.
Check the NeatPass supported barcode list before importing. The new pass keeps the barcode data visible in the source; balances, transfers, and live updates remain with the issuer.
A still image can be a valid source only when the issuer uses a stable code. The guide on converting screenshots to Wallet explains when a still image is suitable. Rotating event codes still require the issuer's live flow.

An invalid Wallet message can describe a damaged file, an issuer status change, or a ticket that was never meant to be static. Verify the source and barcode behavior before creating a replacement.
