How to Add Gift Cards to Apple Wallet (Any Retailer)

Most gift cards don't support Apple Wallet natively. Here's how to add Target, Amazon, and other retail gift cards to your Wallet using a barcode workaround.

Most gift cards cannot be added directly to Apple Wallet. The email with your gift card code gets buried in your inbox, the physical card fades, or the retailer's app requires a login every time. There's a better way to keep your gift cards accessible.

Which Gift Cards Support Apple Wallet?

Some retailers have built-in Apple Wallet support for their gift cards. If you have a gift card from Starbucks, Chipotle, Sephora, Panera, Nike, or Best Buy, check their app for an "Add to Apple Wallet" button. These cards can be added directly.

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express prepaid gift cards can often be added to Apple Wallet if they display the tap-to-pay symbol. Add them through Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Add Card.

Apple Gift Cards are a special case. They cannot be added to Wallet as passes. Instead, redeem them to your Apple Account, and the balance will appear on your Apple Account Card in Wallet.

But most retailer gift cards? No Wallet support.

The Screenshot Workaround

For gift cards without native Wallet support, there's a reliable workaround. Screenshot the gift card barcode from the email, app, or physical card, then convert it into a native Apple Wallet pass with NeatPass.

NeatPass uses on-device AI to read your entire screenshot, extracting the barcode and auto-filling pass details like retailer name. The barcode contains the same data as your original gift card, so it scans correctly at checkout.

How it works

NeatPass analyzes your entire image with on-device AI. It detects the barcode, reads text like the store name, and auto-fills pass details automatically. Learn more about supported barcode types.
