Ryanair Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet: App-Only Flow

Ryanair went 100% digital in 2025. Add the boarding pass to Apple Wallet from the myRyanair app and keep the app pass offline as a backup.

A cheerful boarding pass with a cute face flying into a warm Apple Wallet home, a backup pass card peeking out behind

Ryanair went 100% digital on 12 November 2025. Paper boarding passes are gone, and if I arrive at the airport without a checked-in boarding pass, Ryanair charges a €55 airport check-in fee. The boarding pass has to live on my phone.

The good news: the myRyanair app supports Apple Wallet natively, so most flights add to Wallet with a tap. When the Wallet button does not show up, keep the Ryanair digital boarding pass available offline in the app and ask Ryanair staff for help if online check-in was completed.

Why Ryanair Is Different From Other Airlines

Ryanair has the strictest digital policy of any major European carrier. A few facts set the context:

100% digital since 12 Nov 2025

Paper passes are no longer printed at the airport desk by default

€55 airport check-in fee

Applies when I have not checked in online before arriving at the airport

Aztec 2D barcode

IATA BCBP standard, the same format scanners read worldwide

Pass reissued on any change

Seat change, flight change, or recheck-in generates a new pass that invalidates the old one

Adding a Ryanair Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet via the App

This is the primary path and works for the vast majority of flights. The Wallet button appears only after online check-in is complete.

1

Complete online check-in in myRyanair

Open the myRyanair app, go to My Trips, and check in each passenger. The boarding pass button only appears after check-in is finalized.
2

Open the boarding pass

Tap the checked-in passenger in the booking. The full boarding pass with the Aztec barcode loads. Give it a second to render.
3

Tap Add to Apple Wallet

Scroll until the Add to Apple Wallet button appears. Tap it, then confirm with Add in the Wallet prompt. The pass now lives in Apple Wallet and works offline.
4

Repeat per passenger

Each traveler has a separate boarding pass. Add each one individually. On iPhones shared within a family, add all passes to one Wallet and identify by name.

If the Add to Apple Wallet button is missing

The button shows up only after check-in completes and may take a moment to render. Update both the myRyanair app and iOS, force-quit the app and reopen the boarding pass, and confirm check-in actually finished. If it still does not appear, use the backup path below. More on adding to Wallet.

When the App Does Not Cooperate

Airport Wi-Fi is crowded, the app gets stuck on a loading screen, or the Wallet button never appears. Here is what helps:

App will not load at the gate

If the pass is already in Apple Wallet, it works offline. That is the whole point of adding it before leaving home.

Phone died or is lost

After online check-in is complete, Ryanair issues a free replacement boarding pass at the airport desk. This only works if check-in happened before arrival.

Departing from Morocco

Passengers departing from Morocco must collect a printed boarding pass at the airport after completing online check-in.

Wallet button stays missing

Keep the in-app boarding pass available offline. Ryanair no longer offers a website/PDF boarding-pass workaround for the current digital flow.

What to Do When the Wallet Button Is Missing

Ryanair's current digital boarding pass flow centers on the myRyanair app. If Add to Apple Wallet does not appear, do not rely on an old website/PDF workaround. Keep the in-app boarding pass available offline and solve the Wallet issue before leaving for the airport.

1

Reopen the app boarding pass

Force-quit myRyanair, reopen the checked-in trip, and let the boarding pass render fully. The Wallet button can appear only after the digital pass has loaded.
2

Keep the pass offline in the Ryanair app

Open the digital boarding pass before travel so it is available on the phone even if airport Wi-Fi or mobile data is unreliable.
3

Update app and iOS

Install the latest myRyanair and iOS updates, then reopen the pass. If the Wallet handoff is a temporary app issue, this is the cleanest fix.
4

Ask Ryanair staff after completed online check-in

If the pass is checked in but the phone cannot present it, Ryanair says airport staff can assist with a replacement boarding pass after online check-in is complete.

For airlines that still issue PDFs, NeatPass handles Aztec barcodes natively, but Ryanair's current public flow should be treated as app-only.

Ryanair Reissues Passes on Any Booking Change

If the flight changes, the seat changes, or if check-in has to be redone for any reason, Ryanair generates a new boarding pass. The old pass in Wallet still carries the old barcode, so it will not scan correctly. After any booking change, add the updated pass to Wallet again and delete the outdated one.

Keep the app pass until after the flight

Do not delete the Ryanair app boarding pass after adding to Wallet. If Wallet fails, the Ryanair app is the official backup path.

Why Wallet Beats Opening the App at the Gate

Airports are not the place to fight a loading spinner. Wallet solves that:

One-tap access

Double-tap the side button, the barcode is on screen ready for the scanner

Works fully offline

No airport Wi-Fi, no cellular, no problem, the Aztec barcode does not need the internet

Auto-brightness

Wallet brightens the screen automatically so the scanner reads on the first try

No app spinner

Skip the myRyanair loading screen at the worst possible moment

Learn more about offline mode and why local storage matters for boarding passes.

NeatPass does the conversion on-device, so the Aztec barcode and flight details never leave the iPhone. More on that in the privacy FAQ, along with the other import methods and a look at the Wallet widget options.

Ryanair Boarding Pass, Ready Before the Airport

The myRyanair app adds to Apple Wallet natively after check-in, and that covers most flights cleanly. The edge cases matter though: the missing Wallet button, the dead battery, the post-change pass reissue. Adding to Wallet before leaving home turns Ryanair's 100% digital policy from a stress point into a non-issue.
