Alaska Airlines supports Apple Wallet boarding passes through the Alaska Hawaiian iOS app (the unified Alaska/Hawaiian app). After online check-in opens 24 hours before departure, the boarding pass screen offers an Add to Apple Wallet button, and the pass installs on the iPhone for travel day.
The same app also adds the Atmos Rewards card and an Alaska Lounge access card to Apple Wallet, so the entire airport routine, from priority boarding to lounge entry, lives next to other Wallet passes.
How to Add an Alaska Airlines Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet
The Alaska Airlines iOS app is the most reliable path. The mobile website and confirmation emails do not always show the Add to Apple Wallet button, even after check-in.
Install the Alaska Hawaiian app
Open online check-in
Open the boarding pass view
Tap Add to Apple Wallet
Repeat for companions
For general installation tips that apply to any iPhone pass, see the guide to adding passes to Wallet.

TSA PreCheck and Touchless ID on the Alaska Airlines Pass
TSA PreCheck only works when the indicator is printed on the boarding pass itself. Alaska Airlines attaches it based on the Known Traveler Number stored in the reservation.
- Save the KTN before check-in - Add the Known Traveler Number to the Atmos Rewards profile or to the trip before completing check-in
- Match name, date of birth, and gender exactly - Mismatches between the booking and TSA records (even a middle initial vs. full middle name) can suppress the indicator
- Look for the PreCheck marker - The boarding pass must show indicators like TSA PRE or TSA PreCheck for the dedicated lane
- Refresh after adding the KTN - If the KTN went in after check-in, refresh the boarding pass or re-add it to Wallet so the new pass carries the indicator
- Touchless ID at eligible airports - After opting in, an updated Touchless Identity icon appears on the pass at participating Alaska Airlines hubs

Atmos Rewards Status and Boarding Groups
After the Alaska and Hawaiian merger, Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles consolidated into Atmos Rewards in August 2025. Elite tiers Atmos Silver, Atmos Gold, Atmos Platinum, and Atmos Titanium (formerly MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K, and MVP Gold 100K) still drive priority boarding and oneworld benefits, with status encoded in the boarding pass barcode and printed in the pass fields.
- Boarding group and zone in the pass fields
- Flight number, gate, terminal, and seat
- Priority markers printed by Alaska Airlines
- Barcode that scanners read for group and priority
- Exact visual tier badge in the Wallet pass template
- Oneworld alliance markings placement on the pass
- Background image and colors between flights
- Upgrade status fields that update close to departure

iOS 26 Boarding Pass Features and Alaska Airlines
iOS 26 introduced enhanced Wallet boarding passes with Apple Maps airport navigation, Find My Baggage tracking, and Live Activities for gate and boarding time updates. These features only appear when the airline ships an enhanced pass.
Apple's June 2025 announcement listed Air Canada, American, Delta, JetBlue, Jetstar, Lufthansa Group, Qantas, Southwest, United, and Virgin Australia as enhanced-pass carriers. As of April 2026, United, Southwest, American, and Air Canada have rolled out the enhanced pass, while Alaska Airlines has not been added to that list, so Alaska boarding passes still use the standard Wallet pass format.

Fallback: When the Alaska Airlines App Cannot Add to Wallet
Bookings made through online travel agencies, corporate portals, or older code-share reservations sometimes do not expose the Add to Apple Wallet button even after check-in. The PDF or screenshot boarding pass still works as a source.

Alaska Airlines boarding passes typically use PDF417 or Aztec codes, both covered by the list of supported barcode formats. To see every way a screenshot, PDF, or image can enter the app, check the import methods overview.
Why a Wallet Pass Beats Opening the Alaska Airlines App at the Gate
The Alaska Airlines app is fine on the couch. At a busy gate, Apple Wallet is faster and more reliable than launching an app and tapping through menus.
Double-tap side button
Wallet opens directly to the pass, no app launch or menus
Works in airplane mode
Wallet passes stay readable even when the airport Wi-Fi drops
Auto-brightness at scanners
Apple Wallet automatically brightens the screen for the gate reader
Lock screen suggestion
The pass surfaces automatically as departure approaches
That last point matters when everyone in line is on saturated airport Wi-Fi and the airline app is loading spinners. Wallet uses on-device offline mode, so the barcode is ready instantly. For a quick-glance view of gate and seat without unlocking, set up lock screen widgets.

Alaska Airlines covers most travelers natively through the iOS app, and a PDF fallback handles the rest. Either way, Apple Wallet keeps the boarding pass a double-tap away when the boarding announcement starts.
