Does the Wallet pass replace my printed barcode or ICE wristband?

Keep an official printed barcode, wristband, or plastic format for the ICE details and event instructions parkrun intends staff to access. Use the Wallet pass as a convenient display of your participant barcode.

How to Add Your parkrun Barcode to Apple Wallet

The official parkrun app already displays your participant QR code, and parkrun also lets you print or download a scannable barcode to an electronic device. Those official options are the safest starting point for recording a result.

parkrun's current support pages do not document an official Add to Apple Wallet flow. If you prefer Wallet, you can create an independent convenience pass from your own current official barcode, while keeping the official app or printed barcode ready as a fallback.

Your parkrun profile also lets you print the official barcode or download it to an electronic device such as your phone. One registration remains valid for life and can be used at parkrun events worldwide without registering again.

How to create the Wallet pass

Use the official source and avoid making assumptions about the code itself:

Open your current official barcode

Use the Barcode feature in the official app or sign in to your parkrun profile and download the barcode. Confirm that it belongs to you. Do not copy someone else's participant code.

Save a clear source

Use the downloaded official file or a clean screenshot of the complete code from the official app. Do not crop its edges, redraw it, infer its payload, or substitute a different barcode format.

Import the official source into NeatPass

Review and add the pass

Bring the official app, printed barcode, wristband, or plastic barcode card as well. A Wallet rendering can be technically valid but still needs to be read by the event's scanning setup.

At the finish, show it for scanning

parkrun's Virtual Volunteer instructions describe the result flow after you cross the line: the volunteer scans your participant barcode first and then the finish position token. The barcode connects you to the recorded position. The same personal barcode can also identify certain volunteer credits when the event workflow scans it. It is not a contactless check-in credential.

Scan the code, do not tap the phone

Present the bright barcode face to the volunteer's phone camera. Do not hold the top of the iPhone near the device as if using NFC. Wait for the volunteer's confirmation, then return the finish token as directed.

Apple's guidance says a pass with a barcode or QR code is presented to the reader. Test with the expected scanning hardware. Read the Wallet guidance for the presentation steps. A pass rendering successfully is not a guarantee that every camera, lighting condition, or local workflow will accept it.

Keep the official ICE fallback

parkrun says its scannable barcode materials include the participant name and ICE details. Official products such as the parkrun wristband can also display the parkrun ID, name, ICE contact, and supplied medical details. A printed official barcode or official wristband or plastic card therefore remains useful even when the Wallet code scans.

A Wallet pass is not an official parkrun credential

Keep the official ICE-bearing format for identity, medical or emergency details, and event instructions. Use only your own participant barcode. parkrun does not transfer results or volunteer instances between multiple profiles, and a Wallet copy does not change that policy.

The pass can be opened locally after it has been added, as explained in NeatPass offline mode. Because the source can contain a participant identifier and visible ICE details, avoid sharing screenshots and review the NeatPass privacy FAQ.
