REWE Bonus, EDEKA & ALDI Loyalty Cards in Apple Wallet

REWE Bonus, EDEKA (now PAYBACK), and ALDI changed loyalty in 2025, and none ships a native Apple Wallet pass. Here's how to get the barcode in anyway.

REWE, EDEKA, and ALDI shoppers in Germany have no official 'Add to Apple Wallet' button for their loyalty cards. Each chain reworked its loyalty setup in 2025, and none of them ships a native Wallet pass. Here is where each program stands today and how to put a loyalty barcode in Wallet anyway.

The short version: REWE now runs its own REWE Bonus program, EDEKA moved to PAYBACK, and ALDI has essentially no card to digitize. The practical workaround for the cards that do have a barcode is to create your own Apple Wallet pass.

REWE Bonus: App-Only, No Native Wallet Pass

On 1 January 2025, REWE launched its own REWE Bonus program with version 5.0 of the REWE App, replacing the former PAYBACK partnership. Customers collect Euro-Guthaben by activating weekly Vorteile and coupons in the REWE App, then scan a single code at checkout.

That checkout code is an Aztec code, shown in-app as the Vorteilscode, with a personal 13-digit number printed beneath it for manual entry. There is no native Apple Wallet button, so access stays inside the app.

Important: how a Wallet pass fits REWE Bonus

The Aztec Vorteilscode is dynamic. It bundles the coupons you activate each week and changes weekly, so it is not a good fit for a static Wallet pass. The stable identifier is the 13-digit REWE Bonus account number. A Wallet pass can carry that loyalty barcode for fast identification at the register, but it does not replace activating weekly coupons. Coupon activation still happens in the REWE App.

EDEKA: Now a PAYBACK Card

EDEKA's DeutschlandCard partnership ended on 28 February 2025, and EDEKA switched to PAYBACK in early 2025. The regular PAYBACK card cannot be added to Apple or Google Wallet natively. Only the separate PAYBACK American Express payment card can sit in Wallet, and that is a payment card, not the loyalty card.

In practice, EDEKA loyalty is now a PAYBACK card with a stable barcode, which suits a static Wallet pass well. For the full walkthrough, see the dedicated guide on adding a PAYBACK card to Apple Wallet.

ALDI: Nothing to Add Right Now

ALDI Süd has no loyalty or bonus program. Its app offers brochures and deals only, and the company's philosophy is low prices for everyone rather than points. ALDI Süd is not part of PAYBACK either.

ALDI Nord runs only a limited analog Treuepunkte test, a paper Sammelkarte with one sticker per roughly 30 EUR of spend, where 10 stickers earn about a 30 EUR discount. It has been tested locally, for example in Berlin. Because it is a paper stamp card and not an app or barcode card, there is nothing to digitize into Wallet yet.

For ALDI there is simply nothing to add to Apple Wallet at the moment. If a digital, scannable card appears in the future, it can be added the same way as any other barcode.

The Workaround: Create Your Own Wallet Pass

NeatPass is an iOS app that scans an existing barcode or card and creates a real Apple Wallet pass. It supports 18 barcode formats, including Aztec and EAN, and 6 import methods such as camera, photo library, share extension, file picker, clipboard, and an empty pass. It works offline, needs no account, and your data stays on your device with no cloud uploads. NeatPass is free for one pass to Wallet and EUR 4.99 as a one-time purchase for unlimited passes. Checkout scanners and store flows vary, so keep the official app or card as a backup.

How it works

NeatPass reads your card image with on-device AI, detects the barcode, and builds a native Wallet pass. Learn more about supported barcode types and the different import methods.

Step by Step: Loyalty Barcode to Apple Wallet

1

Find the card or barcode

For REWE Bonus, use the 13-digit account number printed beneath the Aztec Vorteilscode in the REWE App. For EDEKA, use the PAYBACK barcode from your physical card or the PAYBACK app.
2

Open NeatPass

Launch NeatPass and tap the plus button to create a new pass. You can take a photo, import an existing image, or paste from the clipboard.
3

Scan the barcode

Point your camera at the barcode. NeatPass works best with good lighting and a clear view of the entire code.
4

AI creates the pass

On-device AI detects the barcode format and can fill in pass details from the source image.
5

Add to Apple Wallet

Tap 'Add to Wallet' while you have a connection for signing. After that, the pass is ready as a fast barcode shortcut.

Pro tip

Give each pass a distinct color so you can tell your REWE and EDEKA cards apart at a glance. Learn how to customize colors and icons to match each store.

Why a Wallet Pass Helps at the Register

Once a loyalty barcode lives in Apple Wallet, checkout can feel quicker because the barcode is easier to surface.

Instant lock screen access

Open the loyalty barcode faster than navigating through a full supermarket app

Works offline

After the pass is added, Wallet can display it without reopening the store app

Manual brightness as backup

If a checkout scanner struggles, raise screen brightness before trying again

Reliable backup

Keep a Wallet copy of the barcode alongside the official app or card

Faster than the app

Useful when you only need the barcode and not the rest of the app

All cards in one place

Your REWE and EDEKA barcodes sit next to your other passes in Apple Wallet

Your Loyalty Cards, One Swipe Away

REWE, EDEKA, and ALDI each handle loyalty differently in 2025, and none of them offers a native Wallet button. A Wallet pass does not replace the chains' apps, especially for REWE's weekly coupons, but it can give you a faster shortcut to the loyalty barcode at checkout.

For the cards that do have a stable barcode, NeatPass can put it in Apple Wallet while the official app stays available for everything else. Check out the complete guide to adding cards to get started.
