German loyalty cards rarely land officially in Apple Wallet. Retailer apps stay attractive because coupons, receipts, points, payments, and push notifications all live there. For a quick scan at checkout, though, the barcode is often enough.

Supermarkets and Drugstores
With Lidl Plus and dm active beauty the barcode is only one part of the program. Coupons and personalized offers often need to be activated in the app before shopping. A Wallet pass is useful for the scan, but not for the full loyalty-account logic.
Points Programs and Memberships
PAYBACK is a good example of the split between barcode and account. The barcode can be quickly accessible, while eCoupons and the points overview stay in the app. The ADAC membership card has offered an official Wallet pass through adac.de/mein-adac since July 2022. Use that path first; a self-built pass is only needed if the official pass is unavailable.
Scanner Problems at Checkout
If the checkout scanner does not read the Wallet pass, check brightness, distance, and barcode format first. The matching help articles are supported barcodes, barcode not detected and import methods. Keep the retailer app as a fallback, especially in new stores or with unfamiliar checkout systems.
Stocard, Klarna, and App Switching
